(AP)\u2014<a href=\"http:\/\/sports.yahoo.com\/nfl\/teams\/det\/\">Detroit Lions<\/a> general manager Martin Mayhew says <span><a href=\"http:\/\/sports.yahoo.com\/nfl\/players\/9265\/\">Matthew Stafford\u2019s<\/a><a href=\"http:\/\/sports.yahoo.com\/nfl\/players\/9265\/news\">(notes)<\/a><\/span> recovery from surgery on his right, throwing shoulder is going well.<\/p>\n<p>Mayhew said Thursday the team received good reports from Stafford\u2019s showing at a charity event that was part of Georgia\u2019s spring game last week. Stafford threw passes through a tire in a competition against other former Bulldogs and had a 50-yard pass dropped by a fan.<\/p>\n<p>The Lions can receive reports on Stafford\u2019s progress, but aren\u2019t permitted to make contact with him during the lockout.<\/p>\n<p>Stafford played in just three games last season and 10 games as a rookie the previous year.
