{"id":383126,"date":"2011-04-20T07:31:39","date_gmt":"2011-04-20T07:31:39","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.ghanamma.net\/2011\/04\/20\/happy-days-actors-sue-over-dvds\/"},"modified":"2011-04-20T07:31:39","modified_gmt":"2011-04-20T07:31:39","slug":"happy-days-actors-sue-over-dvds","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/2011\/04\/20\/happy-days-actors-sue-over-dvds\/","title":{"rendered":"Happy Days actors sue over DVDs"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><div readability=\"54.7947327653\"><span><span>20 April 2011<\/span> <span>Last updated at<\/span> <span>03:31 ET<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p>Actors from the cast of Happy Days are suing CBS Studios for more than $10m (\u00a36.1m) in damages, claiming they have been denied profits from merchandise.<\/p>\n<p>They say CBS released DVDs and allowed their images to be used on products including lunchboxes and gambling machines without sharing revenue.<\/p>\n<p>Anson Williams, who played Potsie, and Don Most &#8211; Ralph Malph in the sitcom &#8211; are among cast members who have brought the case in Los Angeles.<\/p>\n<p>CBS was not available for comment.<\/p>\n<p>The actors contend that a &#8220;if you don&#8217;t ask, then we don&#8217;t pay&#8221; policy conflict with contracts promising the cast a share of merchandise revenue.<\/p>\n<p>The case is also being brought by Marion Ross, who played Marion Cunningham, Erin Moran (Joanie) and the estate of the late Tom Bosley, who played Howard.<\/p>\n<p>Happy Days &#8211; which ran for 255 episodes for 10 years from 1974 &#8211; was set in the 1950s and 1960s and starred Henry Winkler as Arthur &#8220;the Fonz&#8221; Fonzarelli.<\/p>\n<p>Neither Winkler or Ron Howard &#8211; who went on to become an Oscar-winning film director &#8211; are part of the claim.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>Go here to see the original:<br \/>\n<a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/www.bbc.co.uk\/go\/rss\/int\/news\/-\/news\/entertainment-arts-13140413\" title=\"Happy Days actors sue over DVDs\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Happy Days actors sue over DVDs<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p> 20 April 2011 Last updated at 03:31 ET Actors from the cast of Happy Days are suing CBS Studios for more than $10m (\u00a36.1m) in damages, claiming they have been denied profits from merchandise.
