After over 27 years of churning out hit songs for Ghanaians, one of Ghana’s highlife legends, Charles Kwadwo Fosu aka Daddy Lumba (DL), is taking up a new challenge; he is going back to the classroom!

Reliable information Adomonline gathered had it that DL is now a student at the Ghana Institute of Management and Professional Administration (GIMPA) and the ace musician confirmed it after giving a performance at a concert commemorating the 50th anniversary of the Institute last Saturday.

Even though he is not the first musician go back to school, DL’s is quite interesting seeing as he is one of the oldest artistes to do so.

Although he did not disclose the programme he is pursuing at GIMPA, DL said the intent to go back to school had been there for a long time but because he had been so into his music and had a hectic schedule, he could not make it a reality but now the time was right for him to do so.

DL completed Form Five in Ghana before he travelled to Germany where his passion for music made him pursue it actively culminating in about 27 albums and numerous hit songs like Obi Ate Me So Boo, Theresa, Ohia Asem, Playboy, Sesee Wo Se, Odo Foforo, Biribi Gye Gye Wo, Back for Good, Aben Wo Ha, M’ato Odo Mu, Adepa Hye Adepa Mu, Poison, Asee Ho, Bubra, Tokrom, Sika among others.

He told Adomonline that after travelling all over the world, he had realized that education is the key to a brighter future which is why he has become more serious about it.

DL rarely gives performances so it was quite a surprise to many that he was on stage at the GIMPA concert alongside other artistes like Becca (also a student at the Institute), Sarkodie and Kofi B and explaining, he told Adomonline that he and Becca put together the concert as their contribution to the Institute’s 50th anniversary.

Although he has not come out with an album since the song, Winner, he wrote for the flag bearer of the NPP, Nana Akufo-Addo for the 2008 elections, DL disclosed that he has finished work on his latest album which will be dropping just this Easter.

Known for doing controversial songs with quite suggestive lyrics, this new album seems to follow the same trend as the title Ko Ko Shi Po (literally, go and burn the sea) suggests.

DL said the title of the album is in response to his critics and the false stories that have been published about him since he started doing music professionally.

The latest one he said are rumours about his marriage falling on rocks, a story he said is untrue and is an orchestrated attempt by his detractors to destroy his home.

He said those who are fabricating such lies about him can ‘go and burn the sea’ if they are jealous about his love life because he loves his wife and she loves him too so no attempt by rumour mongers to separate them will work.

DL also revealed that after this album, he will take a break from music to pay more attention to the degree he is pursuing at GIMPA.

Story: Kwaku Adu Kumi/Adom News/Ghana

View post:

After over 27 years of churning out hit songs for Ghanaians, one of Ghana’s highlife legends, Charles Kwadwo Fosu aka Daddy Lumba (DL), is taking up a new challenge; he is going back to the classroom!
