TIRED of having her music turned down by some recording studios, talented and little-known gospel songstress, Tryphin Foya, has established her own recording studio, Sepp Records.<\/p>\n

The singer – known as Mai Foya in music circles – has set up her recording studio in Harare to assist other artistes.<\/p>\n

“I thank God that he first gave me the vision for this studio way back in 2008 with the assistance of my husband Tavengwa Foya.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

“I came across a lot of challenges in trying to record my music and my case is similar to that of many other upcoming artistes some of whom end up abandoning their dreams out of frustration.<\/p>\n

“I remember recording an album that never saw the light of day after the owners of the studio closed shop and I never saw them again.<\/p>\n

“But through perseverance I soldiered on and cherished my dream, ” said Mai Foya.<\/p>\n

The artiste, who recently engaged talented music producer Dereck Mpofu, is now recording music for a host of musicians at her studio with the aim of giving them a platform to release their music.<\/p>\n

Mai Foya stormed the music scene with her debut album titled “Ngavanamatwe” back in 2006.<\/p>\n

This was after she was inspired by Mercy Mutsvene.<\/p>\n

“I was touched by her (Mutsvene’s) music which is very inspirational and spiritual,” said Mai Foya.<\/p>\n

She followed this up with her second release, “Tiwanirei Nyasha” in 2010 that carried the hit song “Ikoko”.<\/p>\n

Perseverance, determination and tenacity have seen the artiste soldering on and now she has bounced back with an eight-track offering titled “Ndichauyako”, recorded, marketed and distributed by her Sepp Studios.<\/p>\n

“My music is mainly praise and worship, and is a mixed bag of jazz, reggae and sungura, among other genres.<\/p>\n

Tracks to look forward to on the album are “Makomborero”, “Mvura Yeupenyu”, “Jerusalem”, “Hosanna”, Ndamushaya”, “Mufaro”, “Zita Renyu” and the title track “Ndichauyako”.<\/p>\n

Born on April 4, 1975 in Goromonzi, Mai Foya started singing at a very tender age, a talent that she later took further as a member of the Ambassadors of Christ Ministries International.<\/p>\n
