THE Marketers’ Association of Zimbabwe will next week host South African renowned marketer Mr Thebe Ikalafeng during a luncheon at which local marketing executives will share experiences on brand creation.<\/p>\n

The luncheon will run under the theme “Building Great African Brands and Equity: Inspiration and Lessons from Leading African Brands”.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

MAZ Executive secretary Mr Gillian Rusike said the luncheon would provide a platform for local marketers to learn from a brand creator who has being in the business for a long time.<\/p>\n

“This luncheon is going to provide a wide platform for marketers to tackle all aspects that are affecting them and the industries that they are operating in. Therefore all marketers are set to benefit from one of Africa’s brand creators who has been recognised as one of South Africa’s top 10 thinkers in marketing.<\/p>\n

“So I urge all marketers in Zimbabwe and those who are interested in learning to come and join us in making marketing a recognised career all over,” he said.<\/p>\n

The luncheon will coincide with the launch of the 2011 Superbrands.<\/p>\n

MAZ president Mr Godfrey Dube said this year’s competition will see local brands competing against each other while international brands would do likewise.<\/p>\n

This, he said, will afford an opportunity for local brands to compete on an equal footing.<\/p>\n

Superbrand is an annual event that seeks to recognise and promote marketing excellence and professionalism by recognising Zimbabwe’s top brands.<\/p>\n

Last year’s awards saw The Herald scooping the top prize in the print media while mobile operator Econet Wireless Zimbabwe lifted the national Superbrand award out of the 87 competing brands.<\/p>\n
