\nConsumers of bread yesterday lamented the rise in bread cost which has made it almost difficult for them to purchase.<\/p>\n

Cross section of bread consumers spoken to, called on government to stop the increase in price.<\/p>\n

Margreth Oboh, a consumer said, a loaf of bread that she usually buys at N150, now goes for N200, while the loaf for N200 sell for N250, adding that she has reduced her bread consumption rate.<\/p>\n

Another consumer who spoke in similar vein said he has stopped eating bread.<\/p>\n

They called on government to subsidize the cost of materials used in producing bread in order to make it affordable for the common man.<\/p>\n

Abdulhadi Sadiq, a bread seller at Nyanya Market, said patronage of the commodity since the price shot up has greatly reduced.<\/p>\n

\u201cBefore, customers used to buy up to three or four loaves at a go but now, some buy only one loaf while others complain that the price is too high,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
