{"id":367029,"date":"2011-03-24T13:24:56","date_gmt":"2011-03-24T13:24:56","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.ghanamma.net\/2011\/03\/24\/warriors-arrive-in-bamako\/"},"modified":"2011-03-24T13:24:56","modified_gmt":"2011-03-24T13:24:56","slug":"warriors-arrive-in-bamako","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/2011\/03\/24\/warriors-arrive-in-bamako\/","title":{"rendered":"Warriors Arrive in Bamako"},"content":{"rendered":"<div readability=\"62.58980271586\">\n<hr class=\"thin clear\" \/><!-- close google_banner_mid div ---><\/p>\n<hr class=\"thin clear\" \/>\n<p>\n<a href=\"http:\/\/www.herald.co.zw\/index.php\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.ghanamma.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/04\/a47391c0herald180.jpg.jpg\" alt=\"The Herald (Harare)\" title=\"Visit The Herald (Harare)\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><!-- begin story layout piece here --><\/p>\n<p>Augustine Hwata<\/p>\n<p>23 March 2011<\/p>\n<hr class=\"thin clear\" \/>\n<p>Bamako \u2014 THE Warriors will be battling on two fronts when they take on hosts Mali in an African Cup of Nations qualifier Group A tie at the 26 Stade here on Saturday night.<\/p>\n<p>On one front, the Zimbabweans will be battling against the blast furnace temperatures which hit 39 degrees Celsius as the team touched down in Bamako yesterday.<\/p>\n<p>The Zimbabwean delegation has been advised to take lots of fluids to combat the high temperatures.<\/p>\n<p><!-- close google_inset_a div ---><\/p>\n<p>On the other front, Zimbabwe are seeking a positive result against Mali.<\/p>\n<p>Unlike in previous visits by the Warriors to West African countries, when the Warriors were subjected to poor treatment, there was no such psychological warfare as the Malians were largely hospitable.<\/p>\n<p>When the Warriors delegation arrived from Harare via Nairobi, they found Zifa protocol official Tinashe Mapuranga, who had travelled as an advance party waiting for them together with officials from the Mali Football Federation.<\/p>\n<p>That ensured that the Warriors had near flawless immigration formalities.<\/p>\n<p>After leaving the airport, Norman Mapeza&#8217;s men were in a buoyant mood as they quickly checked into the Azalai Hotel but after spending nearly a day travelling, their coach decided to give them a rest.
