Events surrounding the 2007 elections portrayed Ekiti as a politically-volatile state; associated with violence, political mischief, criminality, brigandage and other untoward activities.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>&#8221; Let us reflect on the circumstances that led to the debacle of 2007 and say no to those who do not want the views of the majority to prevail.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>&#8220;Let us say no to those who want Ekiti State to remain in the backwaters of Nigeria.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>&#8220;Let us say no to those who want to make our land of honour a land of horror.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>&#8220;Our land has always been <em>ile iyi<\/em>, <em>ile eye<\/em>, a place where integrity and good name are worth more than all the riches in the world.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>&#8220;As from tomorrow, please go to the polling stations as <em>Omoluabi<\/em> (men and women of character).<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>&#8220;Please act in accordance with the rules; do not seek to disrupt the electoral process. Vote for candidates of your choice.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>&#8220;The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has assured Nigerians that our votes will count this time.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>&#8220;On your part, remember that eternal vigilance is the price to pay for our liberty.&#8221;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Igbos in Ekiti State, under the aegis of Ohanaeze Ndigbo, have pledged their support for Fayemi.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>President-General, Ohanaeze Ndigbo, Chief Nathaniel Uzorma spoke yesterday at the Government House, Ado-Ekiti, when Fayemi handed over 100 Suzuki cars and 40 Nissan buses to transport unions.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Fayemi urged the union leaders to ensure that the loans on the vehicles were repaid.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>He said any default would be sanctioned.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Fayemi said his administration partnered the Urban Development Bank on the Federal Mass Transit Scheme to improve transportation in the state.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>He thanked the Igbos for their contributions to commerce and said he is considering appointing Igbos to positions of governance.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Uzorma said: &#8220;Igbos are in support of your government.
