{"id":349483,"date":"2011-03-30T10:19:34","date_gmt":"2011-03-30T10:19:34","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.ghanamma.net\/2011\/03\/30\/gaddafi-forces-push-rebels-back\/"},"modified":"2011-03-30T10:19:34","modified_gmt":"2011-03-30T10:19:34","slug":"gaddafi-forces-push-rebels-back","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/2011\/03\/30\/gaddafi-forces-push-rebels-back\/","title":{"rendered":"Gaddafi forces push rebels back"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><div readability=\"50.471990464839\">\n    \t\t  <span><br \/>\n    <span>30 March 2011<\/span><br \/>\n<span>Last updated at <\/span><span>06:19 ET<\/span><br \/>\n<\/span><\/p>\n<p> <!-- Adding hypertab --><\/p>\n<p><!-- end of hypertab --><\/p>\n<p>Rebels in Libya are struggling to hold their front line after Col Muammar Gaddafi&#8217;s forces recaptured several towns in the east of the country. <\/p>\n<p>The rebels have now lost the key oil port of Ras Lanuf and the nearby town of Bin Jawad, however reports say the fighting is continuing in the area.    <\/p>\n<p>In the west, the rebel-held town of Misrata is still coming under attack from pro-Gaddafi troops, reports say.<\/p>\n<p>US President Barack Obama earlier said he did not rule out arming the rebels. <\/p>\n<p>Mr Obama also told reporters on Tuesday that Col Gaddafi had been greatly weakened by the coalition air strikes and would ultimately step down. <\/p>\n<p>In a separate development, an international conference on Libya in London has  <a href=\"http:\/\/www.fco.gov.uk\/en\/news\/latest-news\/?view=News&#038;id=574646182\">agreed to set up a contact group<\/a> involving Arab governments to co-ordinate help for a post-Gaddafi Libya. <\/p>\n<p>France and the US say they are sending envoys to the rebel-held city of Benghazi in the east to liaise with the interim administration there. <\/p>\n<p>At least several thousand people have been killed and thousands wounded since the uprising against Col Gaddafi&#8217;s rule began more than six weeks ago.<\/p>\n<p><i>Send your pictures and videos to <b>yourpics@bbc.co.uk<\/b>  or text them to <b>61124<\/b> (UK) or <b>+44 7725 100 100<\/b> (International).
