WASHINGTON (AP)\u2014Each NFL player who contributed to a lockout fund will be
\nable to begin collecting up to a total of about $60,000.<\/p>\n

After setting aside union dues and royalties during recent seasons, eligible
\nplayers may start drawing from the fund April 15.<\/p>\n

NFL Players Association head DeMaurice Smith said on March 18 that money was
\navailable to help players while they are not receiving paychecks during the
\nlockout, which owners imposed after the collective bargaining agreement expired.
\nSmith would not provide details.<\/p>\n

The NFLPA sent players an email\u2014a copy of which was obtained by The
\nAssociated Press\u2014to let them know its board of player directors \u201capproved the
\npayout from the Lockout Fund to begin on April 15, in six installments or until
\nthe lockout ends.\u201d<\/p>\n

Players were instructed to fill out a direct deposit enrollment form
\nattached to the email.<\/p>\n

NFL.com first reported Tuesday about the NFLPA email.<\/p>\n

Negotiations for a new CBA broke off March 11. The union announced that day
\nit was dissolving itself and no longer represented the players. That allowed
\nplayers to file a class-action antitrust lawsuit in federal court. Hours later,
\nat midnight, the owners locked out the players, creating the NFL\u2019s first work
\nstoppage since 1987.<\/p>\n

A hearing on players\u2019 request for an injunction to lift the lockout is
\nscheduled for April 6 in St. Paul, Minn.<\/p>\n

The main sticking point throughout contract talks was how to divide the
\nNFL\u2019s more than $9 billion in annual revenues.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/p>\n
