CLEVELAND (AP)\u2014No Joe Johnson<\/a>(notes)<\/a>,<\/span> no problem for the Atlanta Hawks<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Playing without their star guard and leading scorer, the Hawks never trailed
\nand rolled to an 99-83 victory over the Cleveland Cavaliers<\/a> on Sunday night.<\/p>\n

Marvin Williams<\/a>(notes)<\/a>,<\/span> taking advantage of increased playing time, more than made
\nup for Johnson\u2019s absence with a season-high 31 points. Al Horford<\/a>(notes)<\/a><\/span> added 20.<\/p>\n

\u201cI got going early and my teammates kept coming to me,\u201d Williams said. \u201cI
\nhad a big night and our team had a big night.\u201d<\/p>\n

Johnson, who averages 18.5 points, sprained his right thumb Saturday, but
\nthe Hawks didn\u2019t need him to beat the Cavaliers, who have the worst record in
\nthe NBA.<\/p>\n

Williams shot 9 of 14 from the field, including three 3-pointers, and 8 of 9
\nfrom the foul line in 43 minutes.<\/p>\n

\u201cMarv looked very confident out there,\u201d Horford said. \u201cHe really just
\ntook what the defense gave him and he was being aggressive and attacking the
\nrim. I think when he plays at that level, not necessarily scoring (31 points),
\nbut just being aggressive like that, I think we really are a different team.\u201d<\/p>\n

Johnson missed two weeks earlier in the season with an elbow injury, so
\nWilliams and his teammates are familiar with taking on added responsibility.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt was something we had to learn to do,\u201d Williams said \u201cThe guy doesn\u2019t
\nmiss many games. We knew what we had to do. Everyone had to chip in a little
\nmore.\u201d<\/p>\n

Coach Larry Drew isn\u2019t sure how long Johnson will be out. X-rays taken
\nSaturday were negative, but Johnson didn\u2019t travel with the team to Cleveland.<\/p>\n

Horford was 10 of 15 from the field and had 10 rebounds, while Josh Smith<\/a>(notes)<\/a><\/span>
\nscored 13 points and had a season-high 18 rebounds.<\/p>\n

The Hawks, who clinched a playoff spot in the Eastern Conference by beating
\nNew Jersey on Saturday, lost eight of 11 before winning the last two.<\/p>\n

\u201cI thought we really played well together,\u201d Drew. \u201cI thought we really
\nshared the basketball. We really did a good job moving the basketball.\u201d<\/p>\n

For Cavaliers coach Byron Scott, the game was a repeat of the same bad movie
\nhe\u2019s been watching most of the season.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe got off to a bad start,\u201d he said. \u201cWe didn\u2019t come out with the energy
\nand aggressiveness we needed to come out with, for whatever reason.\u201d<\/p>\n

Baron Davis<\/a>(notes)<\/a>,<\/span> who is expected to move into Cleveland\u2019s starting lineup soon,
\ncame off the bench and scored 19 points. Ramon Sessions<\/a>(notes)<\/a><\/span> added 13 points for the
\nCavaliers, who have lost nine of 11.<\/p>\n

Atlanta scored the first eight points and led by as many as 11 in the first
\nquarter. Atlanta was ahead 52-39 at halftime and built the lead to 19 in the
\nfourth quarter.<\/p>\n

The Cavaliers missed their first eight shots and didn\u2019t score until J.J.
\nHickson<\/a>(notes)<\/a><\/span> put in an offensive rebound at the 6:50 mark.<\/p>\n

Kirk Hinrich<\/a>(notes)<\/a><\/span> scored 13 points while Jeff Teague<\/a>(notes)<\/a><\/span> added 10 for the Hawks, who
\nshot 50 percent from the field.<\/p>\n

Daniel Gibson<\/a>(notes)<\/a><\/span> scored 11 points, while Hickson and Alonzo Gee<\/a>(notes)<\/a><\/span> scored 10
\npoints apiece for Cleveland, which was held to 36.8 percent shooting.<\/p>\n

Forward Samardo Samuels<\/a>(notes)<\/a>,<\/span> who scored nine points in 22 minutes, left the game
\nin the second half with a sprained right wrist. X-rays were negative.<\/p>\n

Cleveland, which beat Detroit on Friday, hasn\u2019t won back-to-back games since
\nwinning three straight Nov. 5-9. The Cavaliers host Miami on Tuesday night,
\nmarking LeBron James\u2019<\/a>(notes)<\/a><\/span> second game in Cleveland since signing with the Heat in
\nJuly. James was greeted with a hostile reception when he returned on Dec. 2, but
\nthe Heat routed the Cavaliers 118-90.<\/p>\n

NOTES: Hinrich took some good-natured ribbing from his teammates before the
\ngame after Kansas, his alma mater, was upset by VCU in the NCAA Tournament. \u2026
\nScott hopes C Semih Erden<\/a>(notes)<\/a><\/span> (right adductor strain) will play again before the
\nseason ends. Erden has appeared in one game since being acquired from Boston
\nlast month. \u2026 Hall of Fame radio announcer Joe Tait worked his first game of
\nthe season Sunday. He had heart surgery in January.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/p>\n
