AWKA \u2013 THE House of Representatives candidate of All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA, for Ogbaru Federal Constituency in Anambra State, Mr. Victor Ogene, has called for the arrest and interrogation of the former governor of the state and senatorial candidate of Action Congress of Nigeria, ACN, Dr. Chris Ngige to ascertain his level of\u00a0 involvement in last week\u2019s arrest of his aide, Mr. Kingsley Ezenwenyi in Awka over illegal possession of sensitive Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, materials meant for the April elections.<\/p>\n

Addressing newsmen in Onitsha, weekend, Ogene said, \u201cthe Police and other security agencies must get to the roots of this matter, as it could help unhinge the current climate of uncertainty hovering over the land and by so doing, restore the sanctity of the 2011 general elections.\u201d<\/p>\n

He wondered why Ngige would continue to posture as a democrat, when besides becoming governor courtesy of a confessed electoral robbery perpetrated against Governor Peter Obi of the state in 2003, he still associates with alleged electoral thieves.<\/p>\n

Ogene contended that in the run-up to the 2011 general elections, which is anchored on the clamour of one man, one vote, anyone contemplating sabotaging the process, with the aim of truncating the will of the people, should be roundly condemned by all well-meaning Nigerians.<\/p>\n

He argued that the\u00a0 refusal of ACN candidates in the state to rigorously pursue grassroots campaigns could be because of their belief in the recourse to rigging, as the instant case of Ezenwenyi\u2019s arrest clearly indicates.
Ogene, called on all stakeholders in the state to be vigilant and guard against any attempt to reduce the forthcoming polls to a game of devious manipulations by anti-democratic elements and sorcerers.<\/p>\n
