ABAKALIKI \u2013 THE Christian Association of Nigeria, CAN, in Ebonyi State,weekend, expressed concern over the\u00a0 spate of political violence and\u00a0 insecurity in the state.<\/p>\n

The association noted that the ugly developments, were\u00a0 particularly on the increase\u00a0 in the state with the present electioneering campaigns embarked upon by political parties.<\/p>\n

In a communique at the end of\u00a0 its meeting\u00a0 in Abakaliki, weekend, CAN called on both the state government and security agencies to\u00a0 find lasting solution to the menace\u00a0 in the interest of the residents of the state.<\/p>\n

CAN\u00a0 condemned a situation where\u00a0 political violence had led to disruptions of church activities, adding that the recent attack on a Catholic Church at Iziogo in Izzi Local Government Area of the state by hoodlums was\u00a0 unjustifiable.<\/p>\n

It also charged men of God in the state to remain calm and non-partisan as they propagate the gospel of Christ.<\/p>\n

According to him: \u201cCAN Ebonyi state further calls on all the political parties in Nigeria to forthwith eschew violence, politics of rancour, bitterness and acrimony.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe call on residents of Ebonyi state to prepare, come out en-mass and exercise their franchise conscientiously bearing in mind that our votes now determine our fate in the future\u201d. He added.<\/p>\n
