\nchief Donald Rumsfeld for CNN tonight, and his wife Joyce came along to
\nwatch. <\/p>\n
The pair have been married for an astonishing 56 years, and I
\nasked Joyce afterwards what the secret of their extraordinarily
\nsuccessful relationship has been.<\/p>\n
\u2018I can\u2019t think of a single thing about him that annoys me,\u2019 she sighed,
\nlooking over at Donald with pure, unadulterated love in her eyes. <\/p>\n

\nPrime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu \u2013 the first he\u2019s given since the
\nMiddle East uprisings began in Tunisia back in December.<\/p>\n
I\u2019ve never been to Israel before and was taken aback by the
\nextraordinary natural beauty of the place. I was also surprised to stop
\nat a caf\u00e9 and see it full of Arabs and Jews eating side by side quite
\nhappily.<\/p>\n
\u2018We don\u2019t all hate each other,\u2019 said my driver.<\/p>\n
I went to a hilltop to film a piece for tonight\u2019s show, and saw how
\nclose Jerusalem is to Ramallah, the centre for the Palestinians. Only a
\ngiant security block separates the two sides. It reminded me of\u00a0 the
\nNorthern Ireland conflict: warring neighbours parted by a bit of barbed
\nwire but decades of bitter fighting. <\/p>\n
Because of the time difference with New York, I had to go live for CNN
\nfrom my hotel balcony at 3am in Jerusalem, with the twinkling lights of
\nthe ancient walled city behind me. An extraordinary, almost mystical

\nencounter, conducted at his private residence in Jerusalem, surrounded
\n\u2013 as you can imagine \u2013 by incredibly tight security.<\/p>\n
The Prime Minister was intelligent, articulate and charming. But he\u2019s
\nalso a ferociously tough politician, and I knew \u2013 with the world
\nwatching \u2013 that I couldn\u2019t give him an easy ride.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Tonight\u00a0 I hosted Russell Brand, someone who has tried his absolute damnedest to have sex with almost everyone.<\/p>\n
The last time I interviewed Russell was for GQ four years ago, when he somewhat recklessly informed me he\u2019d slept with more than 2,000 women, but was getting bored with his 20-girls-a-week lifestyle and was now looking to meet Miss Right. Well, Katy Perry came along and the beast was tamed.<\/p>\n
I knew tonight\u2019s chat would be amusing when he sent through a last-minute rider to my production team, listing his dressing-room demands: \u2018Mr Brand would like 1) a bowl of M&M\u2019s with\u00a0 all colours except white removed;\u00a0 2) \u00a320K worth of Viglen shares; 3) a portrait of Ian Hislop; 4) a Segway (and protective body armour); 5) a copy of To Dream a Dream: The Amazing Life of Phillip Schofield.\u2019<\/p>\n
Oh, ha bloody ha. Our encounter turned out to be the funniest in Life Stories history. <\/p>\n
The man is a quite extraordinary whirlwind of quick-witted energy. More pertinently, he seems to have learned genuine humility and self-awareness since the BBC Sachsgate scandal.<\/p>\n
Dare I say it, Mr Brand might have finally grown up.<\/p>\n
