Venditelli also confirmed Bar\u00e7a had offered Abidal a new contract but that the player would rather focus on his recuperation at the current time.<\/p>\n<p>He added: &#8220;We would prefer to wait for the results on Eric&#8217;s health before talking about a contract extension. It is clear that Eric is happy with how the club has responded. <\/p>\n<p>He is pleased Barca are keen to negotiate an extension. (Director of football) Raul Sanllehi and (sporting director) Andoni Zubizarreta have been exceptional.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Abidal joined Barcelona from Lyon in 2007 and has been a regular this season in the team which leads the Primera Division and has reached the UEFA Champions League quarter-finals.
