{"id":334527,"date":"2011-03-24T09:19:00","date_gmt":"2011-03-24T09:19:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.ghanamma.net\/2011\/03\/24\/liberia-elections-commission-chairman-denies-links-with-sirleaf\/"},"modified":"2011-03-24T09:19:00","modified_gmt":"2011-03-24T09:19:00","slug":"liberia-elections-commission-chairman-denies-links-with-sirleaf","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/2011\/03\/24\/liberia-elections-commission-chairman-denies-links-with-sirleaf\/","title":{"rendered":"Liberia: Elections Commission Chairman Denies Links With Sirleaf"},"content":{"rendered":"<div readability=\"89.6520741732\">\n<hr class=\"thin clear\" \/><!-- close google_banner_mid div ---><\/p>\n<hr class=\"thin clear\" \/>\n<p>\n<a href=\"http:\/\/www.analystliberia.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.ghanamma.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/03\/7591e951analyst180.jpg.jpg\" alt=\"The Analyst (Monrovia)\" title=\"Visit The Analyst (Monrovia)\" \/><\/a>\n<\/p>\n<p><!-- begin story layout piece here --><\/p>\n<p>24 March 2011<\/p>\n<hr class=\"thin clear\" \/>\n<p>Amidst mounting criticisms both within opposition quarters and the public in general that NEC\u2019s Chairman James Fromoyan is heavily linked to President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf and his political interest is already tied to the ruling Unity Party, Mr. Fromoyan yesterday broke silence and clarified that he has no connections with the chief Executive as claimed by some opposition politicians in the country.<\/p>\n<p><!-- close google_inset_a div ---><\/p>\n<p>At a news conference on Tuesday, March 23rd, 2011, Mr. Fromoyan denied being a member of the ruling Unity Party and that he has no such link with the president.<\/p>\n<p>It can be recalled that opposition political parties including the Liberty Party and the Congress for Democratic Change have, in recent months, called for the resignation of chairman Fromoyan as head of the National Elections Commission so as to ensure fairness, trust, and lend credibility to the ensuing 2011 electoral processes, but that Mr. Fromoyan has since denied doing anything wrong and as such rubbished the opposition\u2019s claims.<\/p>\n<p><!-- close google_inset_b div ---><\/p>\n<p>Also, in the 2005 general and presidential elections, Mr. Fromoyan is remembered for engaging CDC\u2019s standard bearer George Weah into a word-of word, something, from the CDC point of view, hung dark clowd over Fromoyan\u2019s neutrality. During the 2005 general elections, Mr. Fromoyan is on record as calling Ambassador Weah an irresponsible young man when he, Chairman Fromloyan, served as Co-chair to Cllr.
