{"id":334248,"date":"2011-03-24T07:47:13","date_gmt":"2011-03-24T07:47:13","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.ghanamma.net\/2011\/03\/24\/president-mills-blamed-for-woorsening-ivorian-crisis\/"},"modified":"2011-03-24T07:47:13","modified_gmt":"2011-03-24T07:47:13","slug":"president-mills-blamed-for-woorsening-ivorian-crisis","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/2011\/03\/24\/president-mills-blamed-for-woorsening-ivorian-crisis\/","title":{"rendered":"President Mills blamed for woorsening Ivorian crisis"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><div>\n<!-- Prova Advanced Social Bookmarker Plugin version 2.2 http:\/\/prova.com --> <\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"caption\" src=\"http:\/\/www.ghanamma.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/03\/bfc16fdb53556382.jpg.jpg\" border=\"0\" alt=\"President Mills\" title=\"President Mills\" align=\"left\" \/>An opposition Pressure Group is blaming President John Mills for the near civil war situation in Ivory Coast.<\/p>\n<p>The Progressive Nationalist Forum believes the isolationist approach hinted by President John Mills has emboldened belligerent Laurent Gbagbo to hold on to power and visit terror on the Ivorian citizens with careless abandon.<\/p>\n<p>President Mills in answering a question from a Ghanaian journalist on the Ivorian stand-off and what his government is doing, noted he is guided by a principle of \u201cdze wu fie asem\u201d which literally means mind your own business.<\/p>\n<p>He said Ghana\u2019s military personnel has been over stretched making it impossible for Ghana to contribute personnel for ECOWAS to embark on a military action in Ivory Coast in the event the sub-regional body decides to activate the military action as the last resort.<\/p>\n<p>This position according to the PNF is to blame for the escalation of violence in the troubled West African Country.<\/p>\n<p>A spokesperson of the group Richard Nyama told Joy News Gbagbo is now on the offensive because he believes Ghana is on his side.<\/p>\n<p>He said Mills\u2019 comments have also crippled any intended action by the sub-regional body.<\/p>\n<p>According to him, if Mills had kept his promise with ECOWAS the situation in Ivory Coast would have been curtailed.<\/p>\n<p>But government has debunked the claims.
