The Member of Parliament for Asokwa and former Mayor of Kumasi, Maxwell Kofi Jumah has jabbed Editor-In-Chief of the Informer<\/b> newspaper, Andy Kankam, telling him to go back to elementary school to learn the rudiments of reading comprehension. <\/p>\n

According to him, the editor of the pro-government newspaper lacks basic knowledge in comprehension and needs to go back to the classroom to better his comprehension skills.<\/p>\n

\u201cDuring our time, there was something called reading comprehension and I think the editor lacks reading comprehension so he should go back to the classroom to learn comprehension. It is true I met with my party members but that is not what I spoke about so why is he misquoting me, he has to go back and learn reading comprehension before he starts writing such stories,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

He was reacting to a publication by the Informer<\/b> Newspaper headlined; \u201cBombshell! NPP 2012 Campaign May Hit A Rock\u2026\u201d— Kofi Jumah<\/b>.<\/p>\n

According to the story, the Asokwa MP, at a recent meeting with some constituency executives, openly voiced out that it will be difficult for the NPP to wrestle power from the incumbent National Democratic Congress (NDC) in 2012, if their party faithfuls do not put aside their personal interests.<\/p>\n

Interestingly, Hon. Kofi Jumah, in an interview on Peace FM\u2019s Kokrookoo morning initially denied making any such statement. According to him, there is no truth in the publication and cited several instances where newspapers have published stories attributed to him when he the issue at hand is not even related to him.<\/p>\n

\u201cThere are some things going on in Ghana that we need to end now before it gets out of hand. Where did the person who published that story meet me\u2026 there is no truth in what has been written and this is not the first time some newspapers have written stories attributed to me when I don\u2019t know anything about it. What at all have I done to people, why can\u2019t they allow my name to sleep a little,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

But the Editor-In-Chief stood by the publication and insisted that the Asokwa MP did indeed implore his party members to work hard because it was not going to be easy for the NPP to wrestle power from the NDC. According to Mr. Kankam, Kofi Jumah was frightened by a report by the African Watch Magazine that Nana Addo\u2019s \u201call die be die\u201d could spell doom for the NPP in the 2012 elections.<\/p>\n

Mr. Jumah then admitted admonishing party executives at the constituency level of the probability of losing the 2012 election if they do not bury their differences, but pointed out that the Informer editor is perhaps confused since what he said at that particular meeting was at variance with what the newspaper published.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
