Queens Park Rangers star Adel Taarabt has paid tribute to Neil Warnock for getting the best out of him.

The 21-year old was rewarded for his sparkling form this season by being named Championship Player of the Year at the Football League awards over the weekend.

Warnock has helped the mercurial Moroccan curb his temper after a difficult and frustrating time at Tottenham.

Taarabt puts his fine form and new-found maturity down to the impact of Warnock and his family who have helped him settled into life at Loftus Road.

“I’ve been here only a year, it has been so quick and I am very happy,” said Taarabt in The Times.

“I have found a home and a family. Warnock’s wife has looked after me and his kids have been like family to me.

Relationship

“I cannot describe our relationship. Sometimes I think God has brought this guy to me, I am a very difficult guy to control but Neil does it.

“It is special between me and him, he changed my life. He tells me to just go out onto the pitch and enjoy it.

“After all that he has given me I try and repay him.

“I was at Spurs and had a very difficult time. I wanted to show what I can do and to prove to people. I want to go back to the Premier League.”
