CLEVELAND (AP)\u2014Dwight Howard<\/a>(notes)<\/a><\/span> scored 28 points, grabbed 18 rebounds and was
\nway too much for Cleveland\u2019s front line to handle in leading the Orlando Magic<\/a>
\nto a 97-86 win Monday night over the Cleveland Cavaliers<\/a>.<\/p>\n

With the Cavs unable to stop Howard, the Magic built a 15-point lead in the
\nfirst quarter and were up by 26 late in the third. Cleveland pulled within 92-83
\nwith 3:15 remaining, but Hedo Turkoglu\u2019s<\/a>(notes)<\/a><\/span> 3-pointer put Orlando back in control.<\/p>\n

Orlando swept all four games against Cleveland, winning the season series
\nfor the first time since 2002-03. The teams were heated rivals just a year ago
\nwhen LeBron James<\/a>(notes)<\/a><\/span> was still with the Cavs, but they\u2019re now at opposite ends of
\nthe NBA spectrum.<\/p>\n

J.J. Hickson<\/a>(notes)<\/a><\/span> scored 18 and Daniel Gibson<\/a>(notes)<\/a><\/span> 16 for the Cavs, who have dropped
\nthree straight and nine of 11.<\/p>\n

Brandon Bass<\/a>(notes)<\/a><\/span> added 22 points for Orlando. He and Howard combined to go 18 of
\n21 from the floor against a Cavs team with a very limited inside game.<\/p>\n

Howard added four assists, four blocks, four steals and the All-Star center
\nwent a shocking 10 of 12 from the free-throw line. He\u2019s made only 58 percent of
\nhis foul shots this season.<\/p>\n

After the game, Howard handed fans his shoes, arm sleeves and jerseys.<\/p>\n

When Howard went out with 1:49 left in the third, the Magic were up by 22
\nand even grumpy Orlando coach Stan Van Gundy seemed somewhat pleased. Howard
\nslapped hands with Orlando\u2019s assistant coaches and it appeared his night was
\nover early. But Bass picked up his fifth personal and Van Gundy had to put
\nHoward back in.<\/p>\n

The Cavs began knocking down shots and made it interesting in the fourth.
\nThey closed within nine on Christian Eyenga\u2019s<\/a>(notes)<\/a><\/span> 3-pointer. But Turkoglu ended the
\ncomeback bid with his killer 3 from deep in the left corner.<\/p>\n

Browns cornerback Joe Haden sat courtside in a full Cavs uniform, complete
\nwith wristbands, headband and wine-colored socks.<\/p>\n

Cleveland could have used him\u2014or at least a few of his big-bodied
\nteammates.<\/p>\n

Orlando\u2019s big men abused Cleveland\u2019s forwards and centers in the first half<\/p>\n

At halftime, the Magic led by 18 and were on cruise control. Howard, Bass
\nand Ryan Anderson<\/a>(notes)<\/a><\/span> were a combined 17 of 20 with 42 points, 19 rebounds and eight
\ndunks.<\/p>\n

Cavs coach Byron Scott wanted his big men to be physical with Howard, and on
\nOrlando\u2019s first possession, Samardo Samuels<\/a>(notes)<\/a><\/span> locked up the Magic\u2019s All-Star with
\na bear hug in the middle of the lane. Samuels got away with it as Howard was
\ncalled for 3 seconds.<\/p>\n

Howard then had his way.<\/p>\n

He drew five personal fouls\u2014two on Samuels, two on Ryan Hollins<\/a>(notes)<\/a><\/span> and one
\napiece on Hickson and Luke Harongody\u2014in the first quarter alone as Cleveland
\nwas forced to hack away at him inside or get dunked on. Howard finished the
\nperiod with 12 points and nine rebounds.<\/p>\n

Orlando closed the first quarter with an 18-4 run to take a 30-15 lead.<\/p>\n

Notes: Scott has been watching the NCAA tournament with keen interest. The
\nCavs will likely have two lottery picks\u2014their own and one they acquired from
\nthe Clippers\u2014in this year\u2019s draft. \u201cI don\u2019t watch the game as a fan, I watch
\nas a coach,\u201d he said. \u201cI watch and go, \u2018He can help us.\u201d\u2019 \u2026 Cavs G Baron
\nDavis<\/a>(notes)<\/a><\/span> missed his second game in a row with back spasms. Davis has only played in
\nfour games with Cleveland since coming over in a Feb. 24 trade from the
\nClippers. \u2026 Magic G J.J. Redick<\/a>(notes)<\/a><\/span> sat out his sixth consecutive game with a
\nstrained lower abdomen.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/p>\n
