Mr Kalu Ezema,\u00a0 has instituted a suit against Seven Up Bottling Company Limited,\u00a0 before a Lagos High Court, alleging\u00a0 negligence on the part of the company, which had resulted into his permanent disability.<\/p>\n

Ezema is claiming N250 million as damages from the defendants.<\/p>\n

The claimant, in his statement of claim, said that he was a staff of Allan Quarter Ventures, a company responsible for making pallets and general carpentry for Seven Up Lorries and had worked for the company since February 2010, where he rose to the level of Supervisor in charge of all the work contracted to his company by the defendant.<\/p>\n

According to him,\u00a0 on October 23, 2010, he was at the defendant\u2019s office for official assignment, but that the Seven Up staff, who was to sign work for him was busy, so the assignment was reschedule for another day and as he was approaching the main gate to leave the premises with the said staff,\u00a0 who was to sign work for him, a lorry belonging to the defendant with registration number XQ 727 FST, and driven by one Mr. Jimoh, alias Alfa, was speeding towards the gate and lost control.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe lorry eventually hit me,\u00a0 slammed my two legs and the legs were fractured with bruises, and it took efforts and with difficulty before my legs were pulled out from the truck with the assistance of people around.\u201d<\/p>\n

According to him, \u201csince incident, the defendants abandoned me to my faith, and even ignored the letters written by my lawyer on the need for the company to take care of my medical expenses,\u201d adding as a result\u00a0 of the incident, he could no longer take care of his six siblings, wife and four children.<\/p>\n
