Carlos Tevez<\/a> should be fit to return for Manchester City<\/a>\u2019s next match against Sunderland<\/a>, assistant manager David Platt announced after City’s defeat at Stamford Bridge.<\/p>\n

City\u2019s first-team coach said the Argentinean wanted to play in the 2-0 defeat at Chelsea but was withdrawn from the matchday squad on the advice of the club\u2019s medical staff. <\/p>\n

Tevez watched the game from the stands at Stamford Bridge after failing a late test on his groin.
\u201cIt\u2019s a big blow to lose anyone of his ability but it was a bit of a risk for Carlos to have played and that\u2019s why we carry a squad,\u201d explained Platt, who attended City\u2019s post-match press conference in place of manager Roberto Mancini.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe medical advice we had was that if he had played he might have damaged his muscle and been out for some time. We hope he is fit for the next game. He believes he will be. <\/p>\n

“He had a fitness test today and wanted to go out there. He is someone who wants to play every game.\u201d<\/p>\n

Platt does not believe City\u2019s belief and chances of finishing in the top four will be too affected by today\u2019s setback.<\/p>\n

\u201cThere is a belief we can finish in the top four,\u201d said the Eastlands No. 2. \u201cWith eight games left it is not a case of holding out for fourth place. We can amass more points and go even higher into the top four. In terms of the title, <\/p>\n

“I don\u2019t think Chelsea are out of it or Arsenal are out of it but everyone wants to be Manchester United\u2019s position.\u201d<\/p>\n
