We would love to have you as neighbours. All we ask is that your beautiful home be erected in accordance with your building permit.\u2019<\/p>\n<p>Retired retailer Mr Baker, 76, has lived with his wife on the island for more than 20 years. <\/p>\n<p>He said: \u2018The new property has ruined the view which we used to cherish. We can\u2019t help but feel it\u2019s been stolen from us. <\/p>\n<p>\u2018We are by no means well off, but somehow we have to fight this \u2013 and through the courts if necessary.\u2019<\/p>\n<p>He claims documents lodged at the local authority confirm the section should be no more than a single storey. <\/p>\n<p>Mr Bower bought the Corfu property in 2008. It has five bedrooms with en suite facilities, a swimming pool and a lavish kitchen, and is just one of a very few properties in a centuries-old stone village which offers spectacular views of the Corfu Channel and the Albanian coast. <\/p>\n<p>When the Bakers moved to the village in 1989 it was largely derelict and they were the only residents. The retired retailer has lived with his wife on the island for more than 20 years<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>Ms Kaplinsky, 38, a former winner of Strictly Come Dancing, and Mr Bower also own a flat in London and a converted 17th Century barn in Barcombe, East Sussex.<\/p>\n<p>This is not her first encounter with controversy. She reportedly earned \u00a31million a year on Channel Five News and was the subject of much comment when she went on maternity leave barely six weeks after starting the job. She left the channel last December.<\/p>\n<p>However, Mr Baker does not blame the couple for the alleged breach of regulations but believes Mr Skinner should have enforced height restrictions. <\/p>\n<p>The Bakers complained to him about the height of the villa and how ongoing building work is, they claim, making their lives a misery.<\/p>\n<p> They say that the builders are working during mid-afternoon, which they claim is traditionally a quiet period in Greece, and on Sundays. <\/p>\n<p>Mr Baker, who suffers from leukaemia and a heart condition, said: \u2018The past few months have been a nightmare. I have had trouble sleeping and at times felt suicidal.<\/p>\n<p>\u2018When we saw the building was progressing beyond one storey we contacted Mr Skinner and said surely there had been a mistake, but it soon became clear he did not believe he had made any mistake.<\/p>\n<p>\u2018He told us that we could still see the sea if we looked down the side <\/p>\n<p>of the new building, and even trimmed a couple of trees to prove the point.
