Liverpool boss Kenny Dalglish has challenged his Euro flops to bounce back and finish fifth in the Premier League.\n<\/p>\n

The Reds failed to overturn a 1-0 deficit against Braga from their first leg as they played out a goalless draw at Anfield on Thursday. <\/p>\n

Liverpool now need to finish fifth in order to qualify for the Europa League again but will face a tough job wrestling that position away from Tottenham. <\/p>\n

Not since 1999 have the five-time Champions League winners failed to appear in a European competition. <\/p>\n

Europe <\/h4>\n

There have been suggestions that going out of Europe will allow them to solely focus on the league, but Dalglish is not an advocate of that argument. <\/p>\n

“I don’t know if going out of the Europa League is going to help,” said the caretaker manager. <\/p>\n

“The Europa League was an option for us to get back in it next year if we had won it. <\/p>\n

“We will do our best to get as much as we can out of every game so I don’t know whether it will be a blessing or not. <\/p>\n

“It is a disappointment if we are not in Europe but you only get there if you win games so it is up to us to win those games. <\/p>\n

Deflating <\/h5>\n

“But I don’t think you can call working at Liverpool deflating in any shape or form.”<\/p>\n

Liverpool are currently sixth with 49 points but the former Blackburn Rovers manager is refusing to be drawn on how many points will be needed to secure fifth. <\/p>\n

“It is difficult to predict how many points you are going to need for anything,” added Dalglish. <\/p>\n

“If we win enough games and get enough points we will be in Europe.” <\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n
