Groups know they’ve made legendary status when they have a tribute band named after them.

But the members of Take That could be forgiven for being unconvinced their latest tribute band has entirely honourable reasons for aping them.

Comedians Alan Carr, James Corden, David Walliams and John Bishop have teamed up to create Fake That.

"Face

And, hopefully bandmember Jason Orange will be flattered to see he is been played by the only woman – comedienne Catherine Tate.

The unlikely successors to the crown of the biggest band in Britain are unveiled on tonight’s Comic Relief telethon.

The new five-piece will try and impress the real members of Take That – Gary Barlow, Robbie Williams, Mark Owen, Howard Donald and Orange – on a judging panel.

Using a variety of costume changes and challenging dance moves, the members of Fake That will try and impress the judges.

"Chaos:

Chaos: The real members of Take That put the Fake That members through their paces on stage

Of course, comedy fans will know Walliams has already played Donald before on their BBC show Rock Profiles.

Chat show host Carr will be Owen, Corden is Barlow and Bishop will be Williams.

Walliams remarked: ‘Being in a boy band for the day was really tiring.

‘We had to do all the

dance moves – but when Take That did it they were like 22 – I’m 39, and I

just thought “I can’t handle this”.’

"Hard

Hard to impress: (L-R) Gary Barlow, Robbie Williams, Howard Donald, Jason Orange and Mark Owen at the judges table

Tonight’s Comic Relief show on BBC1 will also see Corden return to his Gavin And Stacey character Smithy for a sketch alongside Sir Paul McCartney.

There will also be a spoof of Downton Abbey and a celebrity version of Masterchef with Ruby Wax, Claudia Winkleman and Miranda Hart.

Comic Relief is on BBC1 tonight from 7pm.
