BENIN – THE leadership of the Action Congress of Nigeria, ACN, in the three senatorial districts of Edo State, intensified moves to grab the vacant position of the Secretary to the Edo State Government, SSG, for theirs zones as they besieged the state Government House, yesterday, to lobby for their various nominees.

The immediate past SSG, Mr Pally Iriase, who is from the North senatorial districts, won the ACN House of Representatives ticket for Owan West/ East Federal Constituency and resigned his position last week, so as to concentrate on his campaigns.

Initially, it was rumoured that the former Head of Service, Dr Simeon Imuekheme, who retired recently from service would be given the position but it was learnt that Governor Adams Oshiomhole preferred him to head the state Board of Internal Revenue, since he had in the past manned that office. Imuekheme is from the North senatorial district.

However, Vanguard, was informed that the leaders of the party had zeroed the SSG position to Edo South district.

There was a strong move by party leaders to appoint the current member representing Oredo Federal constituency in the House of Representatives, Mr Patrick Obahiagbon as SSG since his tenure at the National Assembly will terminate in May. Obahiagbon is said to be one of the outstanding members in the National Assembly.
