Chelsea manager Carlo Ancelotti believes John Terry would be happy to captain England once again if he is reinstated by coach Fabio Capello.

The Blues skipper was stripped of the Three Lions’ captaincy a year ago following allegations of an affair with the ex-girlfriend of then international team-mate Wayne Bridge.

England tackle Wales in a Euro 2012 qualifier on 26th March and, with Rio Ferdinand and Steven Gerrard both sidelined, Capello is believed to have earmarked Terry as the man for the armband.

Ancelotti was tight-lipped Tuesday afternoon about the news, revealing only his belief that Terry would be “happy” to lead his country again.

Happy

“I didn’t say anything when the England team took away his armband,” Ancelotti said. “Obviously, this is the decision of the national team and he will be happy about this.”

Ancelotti is not interested whether Terry has learned his lesson from last year’s scandal, stating only that he has no doubts about the defender’s credentials as Chelsea captain.

“I don’t know. I’m not interested in this,” he continued. “I’m just interested in seeing him train well and play fantastic football at this moment. That’s all.

“He is a Chelsea man, he is a Chelsea player. He has fantastic experience, he has personality to be captain here.”
