WARRI-FOREIGN firms handling projects for the Niger Delta Development Commission, NDDC, in the region have been accused of non-performance by the House of Representatives.

The House said that their performance was unsatisfactory, adding that it was unbecoming on the part of the Commission’s helmsman to continue to give jobs to them.

These were the opinions by members of the House Committee on NDDC led by its chairman, Mr. Nicholas Mutu during the inspection of 44 on-going post-amnesty projects awarded by the Federal Government in the region.

Among the projects inspected by the Mutu-led Committee in Delta State, were the multi-billion naira Gbarigolor/Ogulagha Road and Bridges; Tuomor/Tiamigbe Road and Bridges (Phase 11) and Uzere/Patani Road and Bridges.

Speaking to newsmen at the end of the tour of the projects, Mutu rated the foreign firms low and threatened to revoke their jobs if they failed to brace up.

He, however, commended an indigenous contractor, S.0. Olotu, for the diligent execution of the Uzere/Patani Road and Bridges project, adding “the projects we inspected are post-amnesty projects awarded by the Federal Government.”
