The Ashaiman Circuit Court has remanded into police custody, a self styled Travel and Tour agent,\u00a0 Bright Dotu Rouseau for defrauding by false pretenses.<\/p>\n

Narrating the facts of the case, Prosecutor, Chief Inspector Prosper Yao Aheto informed the court that the complainant, Robert Alebina is a Civil Servant with the Ministry of Women and Children Affairs, Accra, while the accused is a self styled travel and tour agent.<\/p>\n

According to him, in 2008, Bright introduced himself to the complainant as a travel and tour agent working with OBSIS TRAVEL AND TOUR LIMITED in Accra and he would be able to secure travelling documents such as visas, working permit and a ticket for the complainant to travel to Canada within the shortest possible time.<\/p>\n

Prosecution stated that the complainant was convinced because he had been looking for an opportunity to travel to the United States of America (USA).<\/p>\n

The accused then demanded and collected GHC 5,270 from the complainant but soon after collecting the money, Bright went into hiding.<\/p>\n

After fruitless efforts by the complainant to trace him failed, he formally lodged a complaint with the Ashaiman Divisional Criminal Investigation Department (CID) on July 7, 2010 and on July 10, 2010 the accused was arrested in Ashaiman.<\/p>\n

He was arraigned before the Ashaiman Circuit Court where he pleaded not guilty but the court, presided by Justice Seyram Tsatsu Yao remanded him into police custody to re-appear on Friday 11th March, 2011.<\/p>\n
