American Kyle Stanley shot a four-under-par 66 at PGA National in Florida to take a one-shot lead at the halfway stage of the Honda Classic.\n<\/p>\n

With the windy conditions easing as the second day wore on, Stanley took full advantage of his late tee-off time to make six birdies and two bogeys on his way to six under overall.<\/p>\n

The American, who began his week Palm Beach Gardens with an opening 68, is still chasing a first top-10 finish on the PGA Tour.<\/p>\n

“I like playing these conditions,” he said. “I think it kind of really brings a feel aspect into it and you kind of have to use your instincts and feel.”<\/p>\n

South Africa’s Rory Sabbatini carded the best round of the week so far with a 64 to move into second place, one shot back.<\/p>\n

Crazy things<\/h4>\n

“I knew the conditions were going to be tough, but crazy things happen,” said Sabbatini, who needed just nine putts on the back nine and 21 in total.<\/p>\n

“I put the ball in the right spots a few times and make a couple of putts, and all of a sudden you stop worrying about everything and you just start trying to make some more birdies.<\/p>\n

“I’m the most confident I’ve been with the putter in a really long time, so that’s a key factor for me right there.”<\/p>\n

Sabbatini’s compatriot Charl Schwartzel moved into third place at three under, while Ricky Barnes, Jerry Kelly, Stuart Appleby and Tommy Gainey were a shot further back in a tie for fourth.<\/p>\n

World number two Lee Westwood was one of five players at one under after shooting a 69, leaving the Englishman well placed for a top-three finish which would see him replace Germany’s Martin Kaymer at the top of the rankings on Monday.<\/p>\n

But Westwood will feel he should have finished higher than in a share for eighth after getting to four under for the day and the tournament through 12, only to make three bogeys in his closing six holes.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n
