Michael Vick set career highs in multiple categories despite missing three games.

ATLANTIC CITY, N.J. (AP)\u2014Michael Vick<\/a>(notes)<\/a><\/span> is making plans to get ready for
\nnext season despite the NFL\u2019s labor situation.<\/p>\n

The Philadelphia Eagles<\/a>\u2019 Pro Bowl quarterback says he\u2019ll work out with some
\nof his teammates on their own if there\u2019s a lockout. The league and the players\u2019
\nunion agreed Friday on a seven-day extension of the collective bargaining
\nagreement.<\/p>\n

\u201cWherever we agree to be collectively. It may be Florida, it may be Hawaii.
\nWe\u2019ll get our work in,\u201d Vick said. \u201cBeing on the same page, timing, which is
\nvery important. I think everybody has to be on one accord, all thinking the
\nsame. Practice and film study are important, but just familiarizing ourselves
\nwith each other, that\u2019s going to be big for us.\u201d<\/p>\n

Vick was in Atlantic City to receive the Maxwell Award for outstanding
\nprofessional player. Eagles coach Andy Reid also was to be honored as the
\noutstanding coach in a Friday night ceremony.<\/p>\n

Vick, who signed a one-year contract with the Eagles after being designated
\nthe franchise player, said a long-term deal hasn\u2019t been discussed yet. However,
\nit\u2019s likely that would happen once the new CBA is agreed upon.<\/p>\n

Under rules of the current agreement, a team must pay a franchise player the
\naverage of the top five salaries at his position. Vick would make at least $16
\nmillion under this tag.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe haven\u2019t talked about long-term negotiations or my future. We just
\ntalked about what can get done this year,\u201d Vick said. \u201cI think that anything
\nelse that happens is solely on me. I think I dictate the situation based on my
\nplay and performance and my actions on and off the field. So that ball is in my
\ncourt, I think. The most important part is going out and playing good football
\nand trying to bring something to the city that we\u2019ve been looking for for a long
\ntime.\u201d<\/p>\n

Vick led the Eagles to a 10-6 record and the NFC East title after replacing
\nan injured Kevin Kolb<\/a>(notes)<\/a><\/span> in Week 1. Despite missing three games with an injury,
\nVick had his best season. He set career highs in passing yards (3,018), passing
\ntouchdowns (21), rushing touchdowns (9), completion percentage (62.6) and passer
\nrating (100.2).<\/p>\n

Vick was voted The Associated Press Comeback Player of the Year after
\nmissing two seasons while serving a federal prison sentence for dog fighting and
\nplaying sparingly in 2009.<\/p>\n

\u201cI always felt people always looked at me the same way,\u201d he said. \u201cI
\nnever felt that if I was in a room full of people that they\u2019d judge me. I think
\nthey always showed respect and appreciated my presence, regardless of what they
\nfelt. So that\u2019s gratifying, when you don\u2019t walk in a room and people start
\nformulating opinions and judging you on the spot. It\u2019s great to be in a room
\nwhere it\u2019s all smiles and positive energy.\u201d<\/p>\n

Vick also explained why he canceled an appearance on \u201cThe Oprah Winfrey
\nShow\u201d last month, and said he plans to be on it at some point.<\/p>\n

\u201cI just thought the timing wasn\u2019t right based on everything that was going
\non with the contract, the CBA and certain things that I didn\u2019t want to touch on
\nat the time,\u201d he said. \u201cI felt like I needed to do more in order to be on the
\nshow to talk about the past and to talk about the present and how prosperous
\nthings are and how bad they were and how we can move forward. I think when I do
\ngo on, it\u2019s going to be outstanding.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/p>\n
