BERLIN (AP)\u2014World heavyweight champion Wladimir Klitschko has withdrawn
\nfrom the defense of his IBF and WBO titles against British boxer Derek Chisora
\nafter failing to recover from a torn abdominal muscle.<\/p>\n

The 34-year-old Ukrainian was hurt in training before the original Dec. 11
\nbout against Chisora, the British and Commonwealth champion. His doctor said
\nSaturday the fight rescheduled for April 30 in Mannheim, Germany, is off.<\/p>\n

\u201cAt present, the exact time frame for recovery is difficult to predict,\u201d
\nDr. Hans-Wilhelm Mueller-Wohlfahrt said. \u201cA fight in April \u2026 would be too
\ngreat a risk.\u201d<\/p>\n

Klitschko apologized to his supporters.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m sorry it was canceled in the end, especially for the fans who sold out
\nSAP Arena,\u201d Klitschko said. \u201cBut I am sure that we will soon carry out an
\nevent in Mannheim.\u201d<\/p>\n

Klitschko has a 55-3 record with 49 knockouts, while Chisora is 14-0.<\/p>\n

Klitschko\u2019s brother, Vitali, defends his WBC heavyweight title against
\nOdlanier Solis on March 19 in Cologne, Germany.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/p>\n
