Bruce Forsyth is poised to sign up for the new series of Strictly Come Dancing – despite just having celebrated his 83rd birthday.<\/p>\n

The veteran entertainer is to renew his contract with the BBC, despite widespread speculation that he would not return to the ballroom show in September.<\/p>\n

Insiders at the Corporation say the revived fortunes of the revamped series last year – and his reduced workload – have given the entertainer a new enthusiasm.<\/p>\n

A BBC source said: \u2018Bruce says he feels invigorated after giving up the results show last year. That was the thing that really exhausted him.<\/p>\n

\u2018Before making that change, he had to stay on in the studio to pre-record the Sunday night show and didn\u2019t get home until past midnight, so now he feels much more rested.\u2019 <\/p>\n

It has also emerged that producers of the show are looking to make further changes to the format this year to build on last year\u2019s success.<\/p>\n

This is likely to see an even more ambitious casting with the BBC set to court big US names to take part in the show.<\/p>\n

In 2009, Mr Forsyth agreed a 25 per cent pay cut to present Strictly and collected \u00a3500,000 instead of the \u00a3660,000 for the previous series \u2013and is believed to earn that much for the new series.<\/p>\n

In recent weeks, there has been on-going speculation that Forsyth would step down from the show before the next series \u2013 which a friend said had \u2018thoroughly annoyed\u2019 him.<\/p>\n

In the last couple of months there were suggestions that BBC was lining up potential replacements with TV performers John Barrowman, 43, and Vernon Kay, 36, both being linked to the role.<\/p>\n

But last month, new BBC1 boss Danny Cohen said that Forsyth was the only man he wanted for the role of presenting Strictly.<\/p>\n

He said: \u2018Bruce is a great entertainer and if he wants to keep doing Strictly, the job is his.\u2019<\/p>\n

Mr Cohen insisted the BBC had not approached anyone else about replacing him.<\/p>\n

His comments came after former BBC and ITV chairman Lord Grade said it was shocking that Forsyth was yet to receive a knighthood.<\/p>\n

Lord Grade had said: \u2018There is an innate snobbery in Whitehall that music hall is vulgar.\u2019 He added: \u2018It\u2019s the same with television.\u2019<\/p>\n

A BBC insider claimed the corporation was \u2018scared\u2019 of the presenter and would let him do the show for as long as he wanted.<\/p>\n

They added that that the BBC was petrified of another ageism row after dropping Arlene Philips from the programme.<\/p>\n

The news of Mr Forsyth\u2019s fresh contract comes as it was revealed that pop star Lily Allen has been sounded out about joining the X Factor judging panel.<\/p>\n

The singer, who is taking a break from her music career and focusing on her fashion business, is known for her plain-speaking ways.<\/p>\n

The panel for the ITV1 show is still uncertain due to programme boss Simon Cowell\u2019s commitments to launching a US version of the show.<\/p>\n

Judge Cheryl Cole is still said to be in the running for the American programme and as, the Mail told, will not be joining this year\u2019s UK series.<\/p>\n
