Marsha Ambrosius’ solo debut<\/a>, “Late Nights & Early Mornings,” was released Tuesday, and as of Thursday, the album\u00a0was\u00a0the second-most downloaded album on iTunes having reached\u00a0No. 1 the day it was released.<\/p>\n

The “Far Away” singer spoke exclusively with TheYBF.com backstage after her performance saying:<\/p>\n

“This album is my heart poured out for the world to hear.\u00a0 I took a chance on sticking to my guns and remaining true to who I am.\u00a0 And that was as far as how I wanted to present myself, how I wanted to sound, how I wanted to portray “Marsha Ambrosius.”\u00a0 And I came into this situation with J Records who is very accepting of singers.\u00a0 And I was like, oh…I have found a home.”<\/em>
<\/em><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

The fabulous event,\u00a0held at the Samsung Experience Space in Time Warner Center,\u00a0was sponsored by Hennessy, Samsung, and Centric.\u00a0\u00a0Executives from\u00a0J Records celebrated her long-awaited debut by welcoming her to the stage.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n

Marsha also mentioned Teena Marie <\/strong>as a source of inspiration <\/strong><\/a>saying she was the blueprint for what she hopes to do as a singer and songwriter.\u00a0 Teena, who used to sing Marsha’s song “Say Yes” during her live shows,\u00a0gave the Liverpool-born, Philly-based songstress the stamp of approval as an artist.\u00a0\n<\/p>\n

When previously asked about the album’s title, she said<\/a>:<\/p>\n

“It goes with the lifestyle, it’s the grind. It’s late nights in the studio, it’s early mornings of having to get on the Acela and get up to New York and do interviews. … Late night, early mornings: it’s the life of an artist, but I think everyone can relate to that.” <\/em><\/p>\n

Marsha also announced <\/a>she will be headlining the BET\u00a0Music Matters Tour with Melanie Fiona kicking off\u00a0on March 16 in\u00a0Dallas, Texas with shows in New Orleans, Baton Rouge, Houston, Sacramento, Cleveland, Chicago, Philadelphia, New York, Baltimore, Atlanta, and Memphis before wrapping up on April 13 in Nashville.<\/p>\n

After a glorious reception from her fans, Marsha returned to the stage at the end\u00a0of the night to do an encore performance of “Butterflies” which had the audience on its feet.<\/p>\n
