The Duayaw Nkwanta Traditional Council has called for the immediate transfer of the Tano North District Coordinating Director (DCD), Raymond Gbedoah, who is said to have incurred the wraths of the chiefs and people of the district.<\/p>\n
The traditional council, Daily Guide gathered, has petitioned the Brong Ahafo Regional Minister, Kwadwo Nyamekye-Marfo, to press home their demand for the immediate removal of Mr. Gbedoah.<\/p>\n
The staff of the assembly are also reported to be disenchanted by the hostile attitude of the DCD, who, according to them, had succeeded in demoralizing them.<\/p>\n
Currently, the Tano North District is an orphan as the DCE, Dominic Yaw Owusu-Amoako, has been relieved of his post by the president. Though the Regional Minister, Kwadwo Nyamekye-Marfo, has a supervisory role over the assembly, the day-to-day administration is run by the coordinating director. On Tuesday, President Mills nominated Apraku Lartey as the new DCE who is yet to be approved by the yet-to-be-inaugurated assembly members.<\/p>\n
One of the chiefs hinted Daily Guide that the DCD had been behind the arbitrary transfer of hardworking staff of the assembly, virtually grounding all activities at the assembly.<\/p>\n
According to him, the chiefs, who were the custodians of the land, would not sit aloof and watch while Mr. Gbedoah collapsed the newly-created assembly which they fought hard for it to be created by the previous government.<\/p>\n
The chief accused the embattled coordinating director of allegedly releasing GH\u00a21,500, out of the MP\u2019s Common Fund for scholarship to needy but brilliant students in the area, to the District Finance Officer to pay part of his Master\u2019s programme fees.<\/p>\n
According to the traditional council, the DCD\u2019s relationship with residents and the assembly staff raised a lot of concern. The chiefs have also called for the head of Mr. Gbedoah for allegedly poisoning fowls, dogs and sheep belonging to his next door neighbours including the former DCE, whose three dogs were allegedly poisoned by the coordinating director after eating from the carcasses of the dead fowls he allegedly poisoned.<\/p>\n
The Tano North DCD, the traditional council further alleged, recently caused the unlawful arrest and detention of three senior officers of the assembly for using an assembly vehicle for an official duty.<\/p>\n
Mr. Gbedoah was said to have instructed the police to pursue and arrest the three officers for using the assembly\u2019s vehicle for an official duty in a different district, claiming that the vehicle was stolen.<\/p>\n
Some out-gone and newly-elected assembly members in the district have also raised issues with the privatization of revenue collection in the district to a private \u2018susu\u2019 collection company.<\/p>\n
The assembly members told Daily Guide that the \u2018shady\u2019 deal purportedly entered into by the DCD and the former DCE did not go through the laid-down procedure since the Finance and Administration Committee did not consider it before the assembly was dissolved, let alone passing it on to the Executive Committee and the subsequent approval of the general assembly.<\/p>\n
According to them, per the contract, the existing assembly revenue collectors who were on the assembly\u2019s payroll had been tasked by Aim High Financial Institution to collect property rates and other revenues and pay the money into their accounts.<\/p>\n
The company will then deduct 35% commission of the total revenue collected as charge fees and pay the rest into the assembly\u2019s coffers. The assembly members described the deal as a \u201ckiller contract\u201d since it would deprive the assembly of its due revenue.<\/p>\n
When Daily Guide visited Mr. Gbedoah in office for his comments on the allegations leveled against him, he refused to comment. He rather demanded that this reporter formally write to him and list the questions that he had to answer before he would talk to this paper.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
