West Ham United<\/a> to the Olympic Stadium has left the owners of Leyton Orient fuming.<\/p>\nThe League One club, who exited the FA Cup on Wednesday night after a 5-0 defeat to Arsenal at the Emirates, believe that the decision to let West Ham move to the Olympic Stadium could leave their future in jeopardy.<\/p>\n
The O’s feel that the decision signifies a great injustice by the Premier League and the Brisbane Road outfit are currently seeking legal advice to discuss what action should be taken <\/p>\n
\u201cIt is clear from the Premier League’s statement that they do not understand, or have not read, their own rules,\u201d a statement from Leyton Orient read.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe Premier League rules state that they will not sanction a move unless satisfied that the move will have no adverse affect [sic] on another club in the immediate vicinity (the Premier League has accepted in writing that Brisbane Road is in the immediate vicinity of the Olympic Stadium). <\/p>\n
\u201cThat [chariman] Mr [Barry] Hearn believed it “inevitable” that a Premier League club would be awarded the Olympic Stadium does not mean he accepted that there would be no adverse affect [sic]. In fact, the contrary is true. <\/p>\n
\u201cMr Hearn’s letter to the Premier League (which they now rely upon) states (i) it is like “Tesco moving into the same street as a local convenience corner shop and the usual outcome of such a move is that the small business goes out of business very quickly” and (ii) that Mr Hearn “fear[s] for the future of our club, when one of these Premiership giants becomes our close neighbour”. <\/p>\n
\u201cFurthermore, it was expressly stated that Leyton Orient reserved all their rights in the matter. <\/p>\n
\u201cIt remains that the Premier League has failed to consider the detriment that would be suffered by Leyton Orient if West Ham United move to the Olympic stadium. The Olympic Park Legacy Company and the Government have unfortunately relied upon the Premier League’s flawed decision.\u00a0 <\/p>\n
\u201cAll legal avenues are currently being explored. \u201c<\/p>\n
