Organizers of the Miss Ghana competition, the nation\u2019s most accepted and valued beauty pageant have hinted of an exciting event this year.<\/p>\n
Almost six decades after churning out some witty and extremely beautiful queens, this year\u2019s edition is set to raise the bar again on beauty pageants, the organizers, Media Whizz Kids, have promised.<\/p>\n
Preparations have begun in earnest and auditions for this year\u2019s event are set to be held soon, at locations yet to be made public.<\/p>\n
Already, the enthusiasm is high with various corporate bodies, wanting to come on board as either title sponsors, donors or partners, largely informed by the successful nature of last year\u2019s event and what the Miss Ghana brand stands for.<\/p>\n
This year will mark some 54 years of bringing quality entertainment to the doorstep of most Ghanaians and also contributing immensely to the local tourism industry. The organizers have said they are not leaving anything to chance and would ensure a fair-to-good 54th edition.<\/p>\n
Started some 54 years ago, the Miss Ghana competition continues to be Ghana\u2019s true claim of a beauty pageant national in appeal. Over the years that it has been running, the pageant has offered opportunities for most Ghanaian youths who at one point in time used the competition\u2019s platform to advance onto higher heights.<\/p>\n
The first edition was won by the late Monica Amekoafia. After shying away from participating in the competition, little Monica found herself on stage at the Accra Community Centre on the 4th of March, 1957 where she competed alongside representatives from the Western, Eastern, Ashanti and Northern provinces and won, much to the admiration of the judges.<\/p>\n
For her prize, Monica, 22 at the time, won a visit to London and had the opportunity to meet the Mayor. She also received beauty treatment products and services as well as paid several corporate visits.<\/p>\n
54 years after her victory, the event continues to live up to its name in producing beautiful and intelligent Ghanaian ladies including last year\u2019s winner Stephanie Karikari.<\/p>\n
Miss Ghana is under the direction of Media Whizz Kids, a fully integrated marketing communications company with years of industry experience.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
