There’s never been a meltdown like it – drugs, porn stars, custody disputes and a staggeringly bad-tempered battle over how many millions he might be paid to act in a sitcom.<\/p>\n

But the most excruciating aspect of the spectacular fall of Charlie Sheen – until this week America\u2019s highest paid TV actor, banking almost $2\u2009million an episode for Two And A Half Men – has been his succession of raving, wild-eyed rants on radio, TV and the internet.<\/p>\n

\u2018I\u2019m tired of pretending I\u2019m not special,\u2019 he declared in a TV interview. \u2018I\u2019m tired of pretending I\u2019m not a total bitchin\u2019 rock star from Mars.\u2019<\/p>\n

Sheen’s latest troubles began in October when the drunken, drug-crazed star caused $7,000 worth of damage to a hotel room. Instead of expressing shame,he ranted at the porn star who was with him at the time, claiming she was trying to blackmail him, and filed a suit against her.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

There are hourly updates on his obsessions and consipiracy theories via Twitter, with a continuous parade of photographs released by the man himself. All seem to demonstrate that Sheen, the youngest son of West Wing star Martin, is losing his mind.<\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/p>\n

What will come next? Will he be sectioned? Will he overdose? And what on earth will he say? <\/p>\n

In one torrid day he gave no fewer than three interviews, in which he called his boss a \u2018maggot\u2019 and challenged him to a cage fight, boasted that his partying made Keith Richards look like an \u2018armless, droopy-eyed child\u2019 and concluded: \u2018I am on a drug. It\u2019s called Charlie Sheen. It\u2019s not available because if you try it, you will die.\u2019<\/p>\n

Addictions specialist Dr Drew Pinsky says he believes the star is mentally ill and possibly manic depressive. \u2018I\u2019m frightened for the guy,\u2019 he said. <\/p>\n

After being in rehab for several weeks Sheen appears in public again and declares himself ‘100 per cent in love’ with his ‘rehab nurse’. Many suspect no real rehab took place. Certainly the nurse in question is not a professional but a model with dubious connections called Natalie Kenly. Now she seems to be working for Sheen as a nanny.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Later that day he invites photographers in to meet the other woman in his life, porn star Bree Olson. Both she and Natalie Kenly were pictured kissing him on a yacht, preparing to go on holiday. He described their relationship as a ‘polygamy story’ and admits he is paying both women for their company.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

Others say it is obvious he has not conquered his drugs problems \u2014 no matter how noisily he contends that he has.<\/p>\n

He bragged this week of his cocaine use: \u2018I probably took more than anybody could survive .\u2009.\u2009. I was bangin\u2019 seven-gram rocks and finishing them because that\u2019s how I roll. Dying\u2019s for amateurs.\u2019 <\/p>\n

It has to be said this crisis has been a long time coming. For his entire adult life, drugs, scandal and Charlie Sheen have been close friends.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Sheen and his ladies are on the way to the Bahamas for a break. His ex-wife, Brooke Mueller (second left with Bree, far left, and Natalie), decides to join them. A few days into the holiday, Brooke decides she wanted no part of it. She claims Sheen threatened her the day after the picture was taken: ‘I will cut your head off, put it in a box and send it to your mom.’<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Sheen takes a blood test after being challenged by reporters to prove he’s free of drugs. After being pronounced clear, he gloats: ‘Looks like their printer got stuck on one word – negative, negative, negative. Winner!’ He claims he cured his own alcoholism and says: ‘I am special – I’ll never be one of you. I cured it with my mind.’<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

In the early Nineties he was hospitalised for a cocaine overdose and spent his first spell in rehab. His first marriage, to Bond girl Denise Richards, collapsed when she was pregnant with their second daughter. She accused him of drug and alcohol abuse, and they had a messy divorce. <\/p>\n

Then, in 2008, came marriage to real-estate investor Brooke Mueller. <\/p>\n

They split up after he assaulted her on Christmas Day 2009, and he was ordered back to rehab last August when he pleaded guilty to a domestic violence misdemeanour.<\/p>\n

\n\"Sheen<\/p>\n

Sheen relaxes at home with his twin songs and his women. Mueller alleges he took the boys, Bob and Max, from her residence without her permission. Sheen told legendary DJ Howard Stern: ‘It’s not just about sex – these women are helping out on every other front’<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n\"Chuck<\/p>\n

In an attack on the makers of Two and a Half Men, he claimed he was being victimised, particularly by producer Chuck Lorre, who he referred to as a maggot. ‘I’m not perfect, but look what I’m dealing with – fools and trolls. They look at me and say, “I can’t process it”. I fire back once and this contaminated little maggot can’t handle my power and can’t handle the truth.’<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

His ex-wife is reportedly now in \u2018day rehab\u2019 for drug problems. So although this week she wrested custody of their 23-month-old twins, Bob and Max, from him, they are being looked after chiefly by her mother. <\/p>\n

Despite Sheen\u2019s problems, CBS and Warner Television stuck by their leading man. Even when, last October, police were called to a suite at New York\u2019s Plaza hotel to find Sheen virtually insensible through drink and drugs, with a porn star companion claiming she had been assaulted.<\/p>\n

In January, he announced he had again entered rehab, and was seen
\nkissing a woman described as his \u2018rehab nurse\u2019 – this turned out to be a
\nmodel with whom he and a porn star called Bree Olson are enjoying a
\nmenage a trois.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Still raging against his former bosses, Sheen declares: ‘I urge all my beautiful and loyal fans who embraced this show for almost a decade to walk with me side-by-side as we march up the steps of justice to right this unconscionable wrong. Why isn’t anybody, like me, rushing to my aid, rushing to protect me, rushing to protect their most valuable commodity?’<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

In an interview with Piers Morgan on his CNN show, Sheen boasts he has ‘out-partied’ Mick Jagger, Errol Flynn, Keith Richards and Frank Sinatra. He says: ‘You should see how I party – it was epic. The run I was on made Sinatra, Flynn, Jagger and Richards look like droopy-eyed, armless children.’. He adds that he is bored with cocaine but that in his time he’s ‘showed people magic’.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

In the weeks since, he seems to have
\nunravelled \u2014 his sitcom has been cancelled and he is at his Hollywood
\nhome raging against \u2018injustice\u2019.<\/p>\n

In court papers, Mueller
\nstated: \u2018I am very concerned Sheen is currently insane.\u2019 Looking back at
\nthe past few months, it\u2019s hard to disagree .\u2009.\u2009.<\/p>\n
