GOVERNOR Kayode Fayemi of Ekiti State, yesterday, paid the entitlements of former political office holders in the state.<\/span><\/p>\n

The event, which took place at the Adetiloye Hall of the Trade Fair Complex, coincided with the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidential campaign rally at Christ\u2019s School, Ado-Ekiti.<\/span><\/p>\n

Ex-PDP political office holders shunned the presidential rally to collect their entitlements.<\/span><\/p>\n

Fayemi disbursed N1.2 billion as severance package to the former office holders.<\/span><\/p>\n

They were led by a former Deputy Governor, Chief Abiodun Aluko.<\/span><\/p>\n

The governor\u2019s Chief of Staff, Mr. Yemi Adaramodu, represented the governor at the event.<\/span><\/p>\n

Other PDP chieftains who collected their cheques included ex-state Secretary of the party, Mr. Kayode Babade, former Special Adviser on Political Matters, Mr. Akin Omole, ex-commissioners, Chief Kayode Osadare, Chief Boboye Olanipekun and Chief Toyin Ojo.<\/span><\/p>\n

Beneficiaries from the Labour Party included the party\u2019s former state Chairman, Chief Abiodun Falayi, ex-Chief of Staff Mr. Kayode Oso and many former lawmakers from the Adebayo and Fayose administrations.<\/span><\/p>\n

Fayemi said his administration would better the lot of Ekiti people irrespective of their political affiliation.<\/span><\/p>\n

The governor said no responsible government would deprive those who served the state and contributed to its development their benefit.<\/span><\/p>\n

Aluko hailed Fayemi for paying the severance allowance.<\/span><\/p>\n

They had written to previous administrations but got no result.<\/span><\/p>\n

Omole called on the people to support the government.<\/span><\/p>\n

Former Commissioner for Education Dr. Esther Fabusuyi hailed the governor for remembering ex-political office holders despite their political leanings.<\/span><\/p>\n

Ex-Commerce Commissioner Mr. S.O. Kayode described Fayemi as a “God-ordained governor sent to improve the lots of Ekiti people.”<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n
