When you weren’t gawking at how fabulous<\/strong><\/a> Jennifer Hudson <\/strong>looked at the Oscars, you may have noticed the absence of Black actors\u00a0on the broadcast.\u00a0 It definitely didn’t get by Samuel Jackson, Anthony Mackie <\/strong>or Idris Elba <\/strong>who all\u00a0called out the Oscar committee for not showcasing Black talent.\u00a0 Get the deets inside…<\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/p>\n

When TMZ caught up<\/a> with Samuel Jackson yesterday, they\u00a0asked him about the 2011 Oscars and\u00a0the veteran actor had a lot to say.<\/p>\n

He aimed a critique directly at the Oscar committee asking, “Where were the Black actors?”<\/p>\n

While\u00a0the absence of Black nominees\u00a0was a huge blight on the award show,\u00a0Samuel was further enraged that no Black actors were asked to be presenters.<\/p>\n

\n

“I guess they didn’t think we were available to read teleprompters that night … not a big deal, hopefully it’ll get better … it won’t happen again,” he said.<\/em><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

Then he added,\u00a0<\/p>\n

\n

“We work in town … they know who we are, they know we’re available to be on that show to represent the people of color who are in the business in town.”<\/em><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

But Samuel does have\u00a0hope that the Oscar committee\u00a0will see their error and correct it next year saying, “Hopefully they wont make that mistake again.”<\/em><\/p>\n

\nIdris Elba echoed<\/a> Samuel’s\u00a0thoughts on the Oscar\u00a0“White-out” saying,<\/p>\n

\n

“Halle Berry and I were the only two Black actors nominated for this year’s Golden Globes. The Oscars aren’t designed for us… let’s focus on making more films.” <\/em><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

And taking that point a bit further,\u00a0Anthony Mackie added,<\/p>\n

\n

“I think right now [Blacks] are being kinda lazy on our game.\u00a0\u00a0There are enough brothers with distribution deals and productions deals where we should be making our own movies.”<\/em><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

But even if Black Hollywood increases its output, will that affect its representation at the Oscars?\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n
