Gilbert Hie has been appointed by the Board of Directors of SG-SSB as the new Managing Director of the bank. His appointment, which took effect from November 24, 2010, was approved by the Bank of Ghana (BoG) on February 14, 2011.<\/p>\n
Until his appointment, Mr. Hie was the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Bank Republic, a subsidiary of Societe Generale in Georgia.<\/p>\n
He takes over from Alain Bellissard, who retired from the SG Group and SG-SSB on December 31 2010.<\/p>\n
Mr. Hie, who has over 29 years of experience in the banking industry, is an astute and pragmatic leader with specialization in high growth environments. Mr. Hie, who has extensive experience in commodities and trade finance, would be beneficial to SG-SSB.<\/p>\n
He holds a professional degree in Banking and a Masters Degree in Banking from the Centre d’Etudes Sup\u00e9rieures de Banque in Paris. He has attended Executive Programs in Capital Markets and Corporate Finance at the Kellogg Graduate School of Management, Northwestern University, Chicago.<\/p>\n
Prior to his employment at Societe Generale International, Mr. HIE was the Manager of Euro Bonds, Euro Loans Department, International Division in France.<\/p>\n
He also worked as a Senior Credit Analyst, Corporate Banking Manager, Financial Analysis teacher at the Euro Loans Training Centre in Paris France.<\/p>\n
Within the Societe Generale Group, he has held the following positions abroad, Head of the Recruitment and Training Centre, SGMB Casablanca, Morocco; Branch Manager, SGBS, Dakar-Senegal; Commodity & Trade Finance Manager at the SG International Branch Paris; Executive Vice President, Credit & Marketing, SG Singapore Branch; Managing Director, SG Warsaw Branch Poland; Deputy General Manager, United Arab Bank, United Arab Emirates and CEO, Societe Generale Bank Republic, Georgia.<\/p>\n
