Milan coach Massimiliano Allegri believes that his side deserved to win against Napoli in Serie A on Monday evening.

The Rossoneri defeated Napoli 3-0 at San Siro to open a five-point gap at the top of the Italian top flight but the victory was marred by a controversial penalty decision.

Salvatore Aronica was adjudged to have handled the ball inside the Diavolo penalty area and the subsequent spot-kick was slotted in by Zlatan Ibrahimovic.

However, Allegri expressed his delight at garnering the three points and told the press, “It looked like a penalty from the sidelines, but there are a few doubts when you see it on the replays.

“But regardless of the incident, we played well. We didn’t allow Napoli to have one shot on goal and I think our victory is deserved.

“We did very well in the first half, but we made a lot of errors in attack. I liked our character though, I’m happy with what the lads did, seeing as the boys played in Napoli’s half for 90 minutes.”

“I’m happy with the win but also because my injured players are coming back to full fitness,” the tactician continued. “Some important elements are returning.

“Boateng is the kind of player who can break a game open when he comes on, just like Robinho did against Parma when he came on and as Pato did last Sunday.”
