Someone Like You went to the top of the singles chart last week in the wake of her show-stopping acoustic performance at the Brit Awards. <\/p>\n
Official Charts Company managing director Martin Talbot said: “Adele is proving to truly be the star of 2011.”<\/p>\n
Someone Like You has sold more than 100,000 for two successive weeks. <\/p>\n
Adele’s debut album 19 moved up two places from four to two and another of her singles Rolling In The Deep remained at number four. <\/p>\n
While her cover of Bob Dylan’s Make You Feel My Love dropped one place from 24 to 25.<\/p>\n
Last week, the singer-songwriter became the first living artist since The Beatles to achieve two top five hits in the Official Singles Chart and the Official Albums Chart simultaneously.<\/p>\n
In January 1964, The Beatles’ singles I Want To Hold Your Hand and She Loves You were at numbers two and five while albums With The Beatles and Please Please Me were at one and two. <\/p>\n
Elsewhere in this week’s singles chart, US actress Gwyneth Paltrow scored two top 40 single entries following her appearance on TV show Glee.<\/p>\n
Her medley of Rihanna’s Umbrella and Singing In The Rain entered at number 22 and a cover of Cee-Lo Green’s chart-topper Forget You reached 31.<\/p>\n
Jessie J – the BBC’s Sound of 2011 and winner of the Critics Choice award at the Brits – remained at number two with her hit Price Tag featuring B.O.B.<\/p>\n
Rihanna climbed three places to number three with her single S&M.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/p>\n
