Trent Reznor was left “stunned” by his Oscar win last night (27.02.11).<\/p>\n
The former Nine Inch Nails frontman and composer Atticus Ross picked up Best Original Score for their soundtrack to ‘The Social Network’, with Trent describing the experience as “humbling and flattering”. <\/p>\n
In his acceptance speech the industrial rocker said: “Wow. Is this really happening? When we finished, we were very proud of our work and happy to just be involved in this film, and to be standing up here in this company is humbling and flattering beyond words.”<\/p>\n
After collecting the trophy, Trent told how director David Fincher had “bugged” the pair to compose the score for the film, which tells the story of the founding of internet site Facebook at Harvard University in the US.<\/p>\n
He also said he didn’t find the move from being a rock star to writing the score – his first – too difficult, adding: “A side of my music with Nine Inch Nails was going instrumental so it was not a huge leap or stretch to try this. <\/p>\n
“The biggest challenge was working with a picture. David Fincher knew exactly what he wanted. It was one of the best experiences of my life from start to finish.”<\/p>\n
Also at the Oscars, held in Los Angeles, singer and songwriter Randy Newman picked up the Best Original Song trophy for his track ‘We Belong Together’ from the film ‘Toy Story 3’.<\/p>\n
