Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger believes that midfielder Jack Wilshere can handle the pressure, expectation and media attention that goes with being a young star in the world of football.<\/p>\n
Despite being only 19 years old, the midfielder has already played for the Gunners in the Champions League, putting in a noteworthy performance in a famous victory over Barcelona in the first leg of the last 16 tie.<\/p>\n
And to add to his list of accomplishments, Wilshere has also won his first two senior caps for England this season. Wenger admits that he may have wilted if he’d been put through similar conditions during the early stages of his playing career.<\/p>\n
Today he plays in his first major final, the League Cup final against Birmingham at Wembley.<\/p>\n
“One of the things you need to handle in England is the media projection, the fame, the money – it’s all excessive,” said Wenger.<\/p>\n
“Jack looks to have his feet on the ground and still lives with his family, who will help him to deal with it.<\/p>\n
“It’s not easy and I’m not sure if it were me, being Jack at 19, I would be able to handle that.<\/p>\n
“But he will have a great career. He looks to Cesc Fabregas, who is a definite role model for him.”<\/p>\n
Wilshere currently stands 25th in the Castrol Rankings, up from 298th a month ago.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
