A chieftain of Accord Party (AP) in Oyo State, Chief Oyebisi Ilaka, has shed light on the endorsement of President Goodluck Jonathan by the chapter.<\/span><\/p>\n

He said Jonathan had shown commitment to democracy by appointing Prof. Attahiru Jega, widely acclaimed as credible as chairman of Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC). Jega, he said had conducted a successful voter registration.<\/span><\/p>\n

Ilaka said the President had also demonstrated the capacity for repositioning the economy.<\/span><\/p>\n

He spoke with reporters in Ogun State.<\/span><\/p>\n

Ilaka, who is Oyo Central AP senatorial candidate, said unlike Jonathan, Governor Adebayo Alao-Akala has dashed the hope of the people for good governance, predicting that Akala would meet his waterloo at the April general elections.<\/span><\/p>\n

He chided the governor for monopolising party positions and crippling internal democracy in Oyo PDP, warning that the one-man show would presage electoral doom for PDP”.<\/span><\/p>\n

Ilaka said: \u2018Alao-Akala is an embarrassment to Oyo State. People are thirsty for decent leadership. They will vote for the Accord Party candidate Senator Rashidi Ladoja and defend their votes”.<\/span><\/p>\n

He rated his rivals in the race; Jumoke Akinjide of PDP and Ayo Adeseun of Action Congress of Nigeria (AC N), saying, they would kiss the dust at the poll.<\/span><\/p>\n

Ilaka, the Ladilu of Oyo said: “My opponents have money, but I am an Omoluabi<\/em> and that is the difference. I am in the race to offer better representation”.<\/span><\/p>\n

He backed the clamour for a slash of the jumbo pay for the National Assembly members.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n
