The Convention People\u2019s Party (CPP), on Thursday, February 24th, celebrated 45 years of the overthrow of Ghana\u2019s first President, Osagyefo Dr. Kwame Nkrumah. But, a staunch member of the party considers it a shame that Forty five down the line, Ghana has nothing much to boast of. <\/p>\n
According to him, everything Dr. Kwame Nkrumah engineered including most of the companies he put up, have either been sold or been left in a state of total disrepair.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe have stopped everything our first President started and achieved. We are still selling state properties in order to survive. We have lost a lot of things and it is about time we sit down and think of the way forward,\u201d Kwesi Pratt said.<\/p>\n
He lashed out at CPP members who he accused of jostling for positions and not living up to the expectations of the visionary leader, much less to think of continuing with his legacy or developing the party.<\/p>\n
\u201cNo one is thinking of how to make the party develop, learn about the ideologies and even how to build an effective party. Rather, they are fighting over chairmanship and flagbearership, looking for other people outside the party to support them in their campaign trail,\u201d Kwesi said.<\/p>\n
Speaking as a panelist on Peace FM\u2019s premium show, \u201cKokrokoo\u201d, the Managing Editor of the Insight newspaper admittedly said: \u201cWe are part of the problem. We are not focusing on the important things. Everyone should put aside his\/her personal ambition and focus on development because a party aiming at the presidency which is getting 1% at the end of an election is not the best.\u201d<\/p>\n
Contributing to the discussion, Spokesperson for the Ghana Football Association and Host of Metro TV\u2019s Good Morning Ghana show, Randy Abbey, opined that if Ghosts really do exist, Nkrumah would be sad looking at what has happened to the country he worked so hard for. <\/p>\n
According to him, instead of Ghanaians, and most especially Nkrumaists, continuing with what he started, \u201cwe are rather admiring him, celebrating his anniversaries and even wearing clothes and T-shirt adorned with his pictures\u201d. <\/p>\n<\/div>\n
