\u00a0Owerri \u2013 Kidnapping\u00a0 became\u00a0bloody in Imo State, at the weekend, following the abduction of a\u00a0 High Court judge,\u00a0 Justice Theophilus Ugwu, and the gruesome murder of his driver and orderly.<\/p>\n

Sunday Vanguard investigations revealed that the judge had left his home in the morning to drop his wife at Uratta, Owerri North local council area before leaving for his station.<\/p>\n

It was\u00a0 gathered that \u201cthe judge or\u00a0 his driver\u00a0 decided to use one of the ring roads currently under construction that would lead them to Orji, on the ever busy Owerri-Okigwe federal highway\u201d.<\/p>\n

Our correspondent was\u00a0 told that the hoodlums, who were operating in a car, forced them to a halt but the driver\u00a0 refused to open the doors of the vehicle when ordered by the gangsters to do so.<\/p>\n

A villager, who claimed to be an eye witness, said\u00a0 that, \u201capparently angered by the driver\u2019s obstinacy, the bandits shot him and the police orderly at close range, opened the car\u00a0 doors\u00a0 and took the judge away\u201d.<\/p>\n

The\u00a0 villager said the gangsters abandoned the murdered driver and orderly\u00a0 in the judge\u2019s car and zoomed off with\u00a0 Ugwu in their own vehicle.<\/p>\n

It was\u00a0 learnt that the police later\u00a0 visited the scene of crime and took the judge\u2019s car away to their station. It\u00a0 was not, however, clear at press time if the gangsters have made contacts with the victim\u2019s family.<\/p>\n
