He’s famous for his method approach to acting, so one can only imagine what Christian Bale’s next role will be.<\/p>\n

Arriving in LA last night ahead of Sunday’s Oscars ceremony, it looks as though the actor has taken his craft to a whole new level as he appears to have grown his very own red carpet.<\/p>\n

The hot-tempered actor’s scraggly facial hair has taken on a life of its own and the British star looked more like a tramp that an A-list hunk.<\/p>\n

\n\"Bushy:<\/p>\n

Bushy: Christian Bale arrived in LA ahead of Sunday’s Oscars ceremony sporting a impressive rug of facial hair with more than just a hint of ginger showing<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

But the actor, who’s up for a Best Supporting Actor award for his portrayal of boxing trainer Dickie Eklund in The Fighter, looked blissfully unconcerned over his down-and-out appearance as he strolled through the airport.\n<\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/p>\n

It wouldn’t be the first time Bale has come in for stick over his looks. <\/p>\n

The outspoken 37-year-old recently launched a four-letter tirade at commentators who dared to criticise his recent weight-loss for his role as crack addicted Eklund in the film.<\/p>\n

Red carpet: Well he is famous for his method acting, so it was only a matter of time before Christian Bale took a more literal approach to the red carpet<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

The way we were: The 37-year-old actor usually cuts a rather dashing appearance but looked more like a down-and-out tramp as he arrive in LA<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Speaking to the Australian edition of Empire magazine, the actor was
\nquoted as saying he wanted to ‘p*** on the shoes’ of a critic who wrote
\nabout his ‘trademark weight loss’ acting.<\/p>\n

He said: ‘To be honest, I find it laughable that it’s considered to be some
\nf****** gimmick – it’s so patronizing.<\/p>\n

‘For God’s sake, do people not understand what a pain it is to do?<\/p>\n

\n\"Method<\/p>\n

Method in his madness: Bale is up for a Best Supporting Actor award at the Oscars this Sunday for his role in The Fighter<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

‘It’s as though it’s some comment about, “Oh it’s easy for him, because he’s
\ndone it a bunch of times”.<\/p>\n

‘It’s not easy, it’s not fun – it’s horrible.’<\/p>\n

Bale, who famously had an on-set meltdown filming Terminator:
\nSalvation and also a real-life falling out with his mother and sister,
\nhas previously lost weight for his roles in the films The Machinist and
\nRescue Dawn.<\/p>\n
