A few months ago, Ghanaians were hit with the spectacular and weird story concerning a mass rape which occurred on a Yutong bus. <\/p>\n
Amina Mohammed, 24, a mother of three, reported how armed robbers attacked their Bolgatanga bound Yutong bus and in the process the robbers ordered a mass rape of female occupants; male passengers were forced to have sex with their female counterparts.<\/p>\n
Perhaps the gut-churning aspect of the tale for most Ghanaians, was the part that the robbers allegedly forced a father who was on the bus to sleep with his I4-year-old daughter, deflowering her in the process.<\/p>\n
Amina\u2019s incredulous story was discounted by the police who described the mass rape report as a hoax; and arraigned her before court for causing fear and panic. What did not help her cause was the fact that none of the people on board that bus came forward to back her claims.<\/p>\n
But when the ‘Amina’ mass sex story appeared to have died down, it reared its ugly head again. <\/p>\n
Just as the dust was settling on the matter, a man called Michael Frimpong, a resident of Kumasi, came forward claiming to have been on the controversial Yutong bus. He was picked up after granting an interview to Great FM<\/b>, an Achimota based private radio station in Accra where he gave vivid descriptions of what happened on that fateful day on October 11, 2010, exonerating Amina from any blame. <\/p>\n
In the interview, Michael claimed he was on board the bus with registration number GN 623-10, which he said was sprayed in ash and was bound for Bolgatanga when the incident occurred.<\/p>\n
But surprisingly, in a quick turn-around, Frimpong, after two appearances in court, and without pressure from any quarters whatsoever confessed that he fabricated the entire tale.<\/p>\n
Peacefmonline.com<\/b> is reliably informed that, Mr. Michael Frimpong, reportedly told the court on Friday during proceedings that National Chairman of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP), Mr. Jake Obetsebi Lamptey, NPP MP for Assin North and CEO of Kencity Media, Hon. Kennedy Agyapong, Renowned Criminologist and one of the Counsels for Amina, Professor Ken Attafuah, Host of AdomFm<\/b>\u2019s Morning Show, Mr. Adakabre Frimpong and lead Counsel for Amina, Mr. Andy Appiah Kubi, contracted, coached and bribed him with an amount of GH\u00a290,000 to concoct the story to buttress Anima\u2019s claims.<\/p>\n
But the Assin North MP, alleged by Mr. Frimpong to have bribed him to testify in support of Amina\u2019s story, has rubbished the allegation. In a denial on Asempa FM\u2019s \u201cEkosii Sen\u201d<\/b> show, Hon. Agyapong said he \u201cdoes not know the guy who is making the allegation.\u201d<\/p>\n
To him, this is just part of a smear campaign by the NDC to \u201csilence and disgrace<\/b>\u201d him, but said the plot will not \u201cwash<\/b>\u201d. He also alluded to the tag of drug baron pinned on him by the NDC all in a bid to silence him.<\/p>\n
The Kencity Media CEO stressed that but for the fact that he had been advised by some well-meaning people to comport himself, he would have given it to the NDC \u201cankasa<\/b>\u201d.<\/p>\n
\u201c\u2026i would have used the GH\u00a290,000 to buy a land instead of using it to push an unnecessary agenda\u2026the government (NDC) has indeed cheapened itself by hitting below the belt\u2026I don\u2019t know what the NDC wants from me and I have vowed never to remain silent\u201d, Mr. Agyapong said.<\/p>\n
Clearly livid, the NPP MP pointed out that he has struggled in life to attain his current status and would not allow the cheap politics of the NDC to bring him down. He vowed of a potential show down in court, should the state find it necessary to invite him to answer to the allegations.<\/p>\n
\u201cMy wish is that the court will invite me so that the man will tell me where I met him together with Attafuah, Adakabre, Jake and Osafo to coach him. Foolish man like him, does he deserve GH\u00a290,000?…Ghanaians will suffer, if the government decides to thread this course\u2026I will die in this country, and I will continue to become powerful because of my truthfulness, you can carry guns but because of my truthfulness, I will remain powerful,\u201d Hon. Agyapong fumed.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
